OLD BUSINESS

 

       1.  Scituate Viewing Night@Library Report: George Roberts & Louis Gentile - going very well - minimum of 10 people, most 30 - library is vey grateful

       2.  Report on Program at Winslow House July 22nd: Jeff Lane, Bob Read, Bill Luzader and Paul Grueter

Hot & humid - Paul used the Coronado to show some prominences, BobÕs telescope had the last quarter moon, Jeff did two planetarium programs - total attendance was about 15 adults and children

       3.  Program at Plymouth Library – Mon. Aug. 8th, Bill Luzader will make a presentation about how to identify things in the sky and how astronomy is used Romeo & Juliet and other Shakespeare plays and then viewing of sky with telescopes outside. Paul & Bill were part of a Plymouth PAC TV Show recorded in mid July and now running on local cable.

       4.  Viewing with the Quincy Beach and Coast at Merrymount Parkway, Wed August 10th, 8:00 PM, rain date Thurs, Aug 11.

       5.  Observe the Moon Night, Sunday Oct. 9th.

6.    Report on ÒMusic and AstronomyÓ Grant: Paul - SSAS did not participate in the July 30 event at Newport Jazz Festival. We will wait to see if we will be contacted about future events.

7.    TreasurerÕs report (Chuck) $1561.85

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

       1.  Suggested Viewing Nights, Aug 27th and Sept 3rd.

       2.  Next Meeting; Sept 7th.

 

OPEN TOPICS

 

       1.  Don shared a story about meeting the current editor of Astronomy magazine when he was a young man from Ohio at his first Stellfane event

       2.  Louis suggest that the club produce some material that can be handed out at Astronomy Day & other evening events - business card type thing, bumper stickers and so onÉ.
