This abbreviated newsletter is presented by the ssastros webmaster.

 

1.   The South Shore Astronomical Society is in the process of joining the Astronomical League.  Louis discussed the benefits of membership in the league.

 

2.   Astronomy Day will take place May 10th rain or shine.  This year the event will take place at the Norwell Council of Aging and Centennial Field.  Among the highlights of this year’s Astronomy Day Celebrations will be the awarding of our second telescope to this year’s essay winner.  The dead line of essay submissions will be April 15th.  See the web page for more information

 

3.   Bill Luzader is requesting Society help for an April 3rd telescope day to be held at the Plymouth Community Intermediate School.

 

4.   The Society will participate in the Cassini project next winter.  Stay tune for more details.

 

5.   Norton Public Library has asked for use to do a show.  Date and time will be coming

 

6.   Ann Balboni has suggested the “Power of 10” web site to be added to the links page. 

 

7.   Society Secretary Sean Maroney sent a very moving e-mail to several members.  Louis read a copy during the meeting.  Thanks Sean.  Our thoughts are with you.  See you this summer.

 

8.   The annual Messier Marathon will take place on May 29th at Centennial Field.
