The regularly scheduled Viewing Nights are Feb. 4th & 25th .

 

Special Viewing Sessions to be held in Quincy. Check with Rolf Egon for details..

 

There will be a STEP foundation meeting on Friday March 8 at 5 pm at the Blake Planetarium at Plymouth Community Intermediate School.

Astronomy Day 2006 May 6th

b. Louis  Gentile suggests that having Astronomy day at a local church that has many community activities would be a great draw for a crowd. Initial contact with minister at the First parish Unitarian Church of Norwell are positive. A committee of SSAS members will meet with a planning council at the Church at 11 a.m. on Sunday March 5

c. Bill Luzader has heard no response from nothing the Cushing Elementary School in Scituate about the possibility of them accepting and using a 4.5 inch Dobsonian reflector

d Louis Gentile graciously opened his home for the annual SSAS Star-BQ for a date to be determined in July (29th?)

e Bill has no information about a possible visit to the Seagrave Observatory in North Scituate RI, home of the Skyscrapers. Inc. Amateur Astronomers of Rhode Island

f. Paul Grueter has posted the revised By-Laws.

 

Other New Business

Skippy announces another Messier night in some Saturday Standish State Forest end of March last observing night.

 

Bill luzader announces Skyscrapers meeting Feb 3 at 7:30 pm in North Scituate RI Community Center Ron Dantowitz from the Clay Center in Brookline; may go to Groveland MA for North Shore meeting Fri; stardust reentry video, found a web site of a group fly planes to record reentries; UMass is building a “radio” telescope in Mexico that is sensitive between Infrared and Radio, 50 m diameter, bolometer detector “camera” (submillimeter detection)

 

Louis Gentile mentions a possible star party for St. Colletta’s school in Hanover.
