Sample of he Video Series “Understanding the Universe: An Introduction to Astronomy” from the Teaching Company. This tape was about the structure of the Milky Way Galaxy.

 

Old Business

 

1.     Scituate Rotary Club – Wednesday March 28th at the putting green at the Scituate country club Driftway 6:30

 

2.     Lunar Eclipse at PCIS – sunset around 5-5:30 pm Saturday March 3, club members encouraged to bring telescopes and binoculars

 

New Business

 

1.     Board of Directors Meeting

a.      Astronomy Day – one act play about Galileo and his daughter in Church Sanctuary; portable planetarium, telescopes afternoon and evening at First parish Unitarian Church in Norwell, Saturday April 21; Clay Science Center at the Dexter-Southfield School in Brookline will have astronomy day activities on Saturday April 28

b.     Membership – generate more members

i.      Mal’s plans at observing sessions - demonstrated his homemade glowing constellation boards – suggested use with binoculars out in the field when having public viewing

ii.      Sign-in sheet at all events with e-mail & phone numbers with pens and red light

 

2.     South Shore Astronomy Podcast – problems connecting from the SSAS web site (no solution yet)

 

3. Dick Caldwell from Norwell, a member at the Civil Air Patrol (adults & young people) in Plymouth discussed the possibility of them coming to us or we going to them sometime in the spring.

 

4. Silver Lake Middle School may bring a group to Plymouth on March 3
