South Shore Astronomical Society

Monthly Meeting Minutes

January 2005

Once again, I think, the weather and distance had a hand in keeping our annual meeting at PCIS Planetarium, limited to few in number. Too bad, as we had a good time, in spite of it. Bill Luzader, did a great job as usual, trying to present us with a north, south perspective, as far as the sky is concerned. Constellations that can and cannot be seen, from either hemisphere, as well as other interesting facts. I had mentioned, trying, in reference to Bills presentation, as he was running into some problems, with the 30 yr. old projector and would like us to know that a small donation of $500,000, would remedy the problem, with a new digital unit. So anyone out there, with a few quid to spare, by all means, contact Bill.

After Bills presentation we opened the meeting to old and new business. We discussed the

topic of outstanding club assets, mainly the telescopes, and Louis assure us that if they are brought in, to one of our next meetings, he would be able to take them. Louis will be storing our assets at his place. I will be sending out a brief message, asking any of our members, who have one of the scopes, to bring it in to one of our next meetings. Bruce Gerhard, brought to our attention, the activities of the "Center for Astrophysics". They have viewings, at the Oak Ridge Observatory, in the town of Harvard.  Check out there web site for a schedule of planned events; sounds interesting.

Lastly, there was a further reminder to board members present, of the upcoming board meeting, this Saturday, January the 8th, at 5:00 p.m.

The meeting was pretty much over at this point, so most of us, sat around for awhile, shooting the breeze, having a good time. A pleasant evening, in comfortable surroundings. That's about it until next month. Keep thinking good weather and above all,

Keep Looking Up!
