OLD BUSINESS:
1)
We still need a
nomination for Treasurer
2) Good viewing with Whitman Cub Scouts on Thursday Dec.
9, 6:30 - 9 PM. About 30 people (scouts and adults) attended
3) Dues for 2011 year is now being collected.
a) $35.00 per family, Includes membership in the
Astronomical League with 4 issues of The Reflector
b) Sky and Tel, $33.00 (Can renew by yourself and still
get club rate)
c) Astronomy $34.00
4) Public Viewing Grant Update - commit to two or three
telescope viewings at the Summer 2012
5) Observing Night (”Stew & Stars”) Friday Jan 14 at
Chickatawbut Education Center (take Rte 28 North, off of Rte 128, and turn
right at the first stoplight). Blue Hills Reservation, 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Presenters
should be there at 5:30. Paul will email members on Wednesday Jan 12 notifying us
if the program is cancelled.
6) Rolf Egon has an 8 inch mirror and Alden has a cell
for such a mirror.- both available
7) Treasurer’s report from our almost ex-Treasurer
Charles McCarthy $1498.80 as of Jan 11, 2011.
NEW BUSINESS
1) Suggested Viewing Nights, Saturdays Jan. 8th &
29th at
2) Time frame for Board Meeting - Second or Third
Weekend in April
OPEN TOPICS
1) Skip Newell tried to observe the Quantrantid meteor
shower and saw two airplanes
2) Club voted to send Mal MacDonald a gift card and note
of thanks and a Life Time Membership.
3) Club voted to make former president Tenny Doble a
Life Time member
4) It was announced that former SSAS President Andy
Anderson passed away around Christmas (2010).
