The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.  There were 19 people in attendance.

Chuck finally heard from an insurance company about our club insurance. This company charges $250 for a one million dollar insurance policy.  Chuck cancelled our previous insurance and replaced it with this one. He had sent letters to the Astronomical League and this company to him through that contact.

There will be a board meeting on July 31 at 1:00 at Tenny’s house. All are welcome to attend. After the board meeting, there will be a picnic and pool party.

Steve will be riding in the Pan Mass Challenge for the fifth time.  4000 cyclists will bike 200 miles in order to raise money for the Jimmy Fund. Steve is looking for donations and is asking for our help.

Observing sessions for the month of July will be held on the 10th and the 17th.

Louis reported on the Plymouth Fourth of July Parade. Our club built a float for this parade. The float had a model of Saturn, a model of Cassinni, balloons, and banners. Louis and the others who marched with the float handed out Starbursts candies. They had a great time and our float was very well received.

A slow nova is visible in Scorpios between M62 and M6.

Every Wednesday beginning August 4 and running through September Rolf will be presenting a viewing program at Wampatuck State Park.   The sessions will run from 7-9 p.m. and he is looking for club volunteers to help.

In spite of a slow and cloudy start everyone who viewed the Transit of Venus on June 8 enjoyed the show. The weather prevented most people from observing the entire time but we found that for a while we could watch without solar filters because of the clouds.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. so that Steve could show us a presentation of his pictures from the Bridgewater State College Observatory during the Transit of Venus. He also showed us some pictures that he took from the internet in order to see the transit at different intervals.
