1. Final plans for Astronomy Day were discussed. The activities will include a slide show by Louis Gentile, a meteorite display by Rolf Egon and presentation of an Orion 4.5” Dobsonion telescope to this years essay contest winner.
2. Bruce Gerhard talked about the Northeast Astronomy Forum in Suffern NY. The Rockland Astronomy Club sponsors this annual event. Bruce has attended in the past and recommends attendance. He relates that both the presentations and the sale tables are well worth the trip.
3. Louis brought up the topic of Mars, which will be the closest to the earth since 57617 BC. He suggested that we hold observing sessions through August and September. More information and publicity will be forth coming.
4. Paul Grueter will be representing the Society at the STEP Foundation in Plymouth. The Foundation is in the process of fund raising to build an observatory at Plymouth South Middle School and keep the Blake Planetarium open.
5. Mal MacDonald talked about observing parties a Wampatuk State Park. He will inform us when they will be starting up again.
6. Louis Gentile informed those present that he had recently returned from the Texas Star Party. He will present a slide show of pictures taken from the Star Party at the June Meeting.
