South Shore Astronomical
Society, meeting minutes for 6 October, 2004.
Unlike other meetings,
this one started a few minutes late. as Skip had
brewed fresh coffee and a number of members present, wanted a cup before we
started. Louis Gentile, our illustrious Vice President, started the evening
off, with a talk and slide presentation about his trip to the "Texas Star
Party", 2004. Very interesting, showing a wide variety of scopes, both
store bought and home made. Don Greeley another club member, who also traveled
with Louis to the Texas Star Party, give an impressive
presentation, using a laptop computer, attached to a large T.V. A different perspective from Louis, but no less impressive or
informative.
Our meeting then turned
more business like. Andy talked about his work, at contacting the major local
network T.V. stations and asked all members for their help, in preparing his
presentation to them. Any information about interesting Astronomical events,
either present or upcoming, would be welcome. Other topics that were discussed
were about the clubs inventory( scopes, tapes, etc) and
the upcoming nominations, at our next meeting.
At this point, the meeting
broke up into it's usual small groups, where people
would be talking about various astronomical topics and ideas. One of our newest
members Pankaj Shah (PK) at this point, brought in a
new scope he had purchased and some of our more seasoned members were there to
help him put it together and show him how everything works. At this point the
meeting was starting to wind down, as slowly, members started to leave. All in all, a pleasant time. Until next time; "Keep
Looking Up".
