Notes from the
September 1, 2004 meeting.
There were 21 members and guests at the meeting.
The main topic of this meeting was a presentation from member Spencer Howe. Spencer discussed and illustrated the methods he uses for processing digital stills. Through the use of his lap top computer connected to the TV, Spencer illustrated the many different tools that can be used to enhance a digital picture. Using Paint Shop Pro he walked all those in attendance through the steps he uses:
1. Rotate to level the picture
2. Crop
3. Gamma correction
4. Contrast & brightness
5. Saturation
6. Sharpen
7. Re-Size
8. Sharpen
9. Save
Several of Spencer’s photos are available on the picture gallery page of the club web site.
After Spencer’s presentation, several members assisted a visitor in the assembly of a new Meade refractor telescope.
