50 YEARS

 

1.  Finances and Membership – Chuck McCarthy

    a.  as of Sep 24 balance is $996.65

    b.  24 paid members and 2 life members

 

2.  Public viewing - Mal suggests a wording change for public viewing: “recommended viewing” evenings as opposed to “scheduled club viewing” at Centennial Park; “Special events” when SSAS goes to scheduled groups – decision made that suggestions would be shared online with a final decision later

 

3. Suggested monetary guidelines for the club making a presentation to a “civic” group: “IF asked: a $150 a suggested donation for presentations for groups if necessary a lower donation may be negotiated or even done for free depending on the group requesting an observing session

 

4. Astronomy Day 2010 April 24 at the Scituate Town Library - Sue D’Arcangelo, library’s Youth Services Assistant will attend a future club meeting to discuss the event.

 

5. Club will NOT purchase a LCD video projector

 

6. STEP Foundation meeting held Tuesday Sep 22, 2009. STEP will meet with Plymouth school official to clarify and better define the current and future work on the PCIS observatory – it appears that it will not end up on the roof of PCIS due to difficulty of access.

 

7. Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy contacted SSAS about having a solar telescope and other display items for the Homecoming events on Saturday October 17, 2009. This is sponsored by the campus Physics Engineering club.
